MS Electrical is an electrical installation and safety testing company operating with over 20 years experience in all aspects of the electrical testing and installation industry. Installations within the domestic, industrial, commercial, educational, public and private health care sectors, as well as residential care homes are all areas of work covered by MS Electrical.
Our electrical testing services ensure that all aspects of an electrical installation are inspected and tested for strength, integrity and compliance with the IEE Regulations alongside all Health & Safetly legislation and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
All aspects of electrical installation can be inspected and tested for strength, damage, wear, tear, integrity, corrosion, excessive electrical loading, ageing, environmental influences and most importantly compliance with the BS7671:2008 as amended.
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing):
Portable Appliance Testing is the in-service inspection and testing of any 240Volt Electrical Appliance fitted with a 13amp plug or any 110Volt appliance to ensure compliance, as set out in the IEE Regulations for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.Various tests are performed to measure compliance and will include a thorough visual inspection, function test, insulation resistance test, load and earth leakage tests and where applicable, an earth continuity test.
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 puts the duty of care upon “duty holders” which apply to both the employer and the employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the premises. Provisions & Use Of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 states that every employer shall ensure that “the result of an inspection made under this regulation is recorded and kept until the next inspection under these regulations is recorded.” The combination of these regulations apply to all electrical equipment used in, or associated with, places of work.
MS Electrical provides a programme of Portable Appliance Testing to meet the recommended guidelines for frequency of testing as issued by the IEE and the HSE.
Fixed Installation Testing:
Fixed Installation Testing or Periodic Inspection and Testing, as it is often referred to, is a report on the electrical wiring of a property, outlining any defects it may have that may prove to be a safety hazard. Owners of buildings have a duty of care to users and themselves to comply with Health & Safety guidelines
and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. The wiring of buildings is an area that is often taken for granted, yet it can be a major cause of fire or injury through electric shock and deterioration of electrical systems.
When testing is being carried out there is a requirement for parts of the installation to be isolated for periods of time, therefore we offer out of hours testing and will work with the client to perform necessary tasks during shutdown periods.
As well as offering fixed installation testing services, we also offer an efficient, competitive, initial verification and inspection service which is an independent report that confirms any new electrical installation work complies with current British Standards.
Fire Alarm Inspection:
MS Electrical inspect, test and maintain fire alarm systems in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and British Standards BS 5839:2004. In excess of 93,000 recorded fires account for the loss of approximately 490 people each year. Therefore, the main reason to install and maintain a fire alarm detection system is to save lives. Since October 1, 2006 fire certificates are no longer a requirement and instead Fire Risk Assessments are required to be carried out for all buildings.
Smoke Detection:
We understand how essential it is to ensure your environment is smoke-free. For this reason we supply safe, reliable, and serviced smoke detectors. MS Electrical not only install your smoke detectors, but will also carry out a series of tests to ensure they are working to their full potential. We always ensure all units are fully tested before we leave your premises.
Emergency Lighting Inspection:
It is vital that emergency lighting comes on if the normal lighting fails. It needs to be sufficiently bright, illuminated for enough time, and the light sources so positioned that the staff and visitors of a building can be evacuated safely in an emergency. Our engineers carry out work on emergency lighting systems on a daily basis. Our services include providing advice on compliance with current regulations, risk assessments and servicing and maintenance visits to ensure the requirements of BS5266:2004 are met.
Commercial and Domestic Installation Work:
We undertake all aspects of electrical installation work and minor electrical works to all aspects of the electrical industry ranging from commercial to domestic use. All works are undertaken to current IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and the relevant electrical certification will be issued on completion of all works. The works are all undertaken by fully qualified and competent team of electrical engineers who are all trained to the highest industry standards.
